With the paperweight being a reconfiguration of the awesome winner’s trophy, designed by SyFy Face/Off finalist Tyler Green FX Studios, contest director Alison Parker had this to say about opening it up for purchase:
“When we revealed the trophies, it was a big hit. Right away I had people asking me if they could purchase a mini version. I considered this briefly, but I didn’t want to take away the value of winning the trophy from our Top 3. So, Tyler and I came up with a way to reconfigure it so it would be different enough from the trophy. It is a very close replica to the trophy, but much much smaller, and instead of a base with a plaque, it sits on crossbones.”

On working with Tyler on the design Alison says, “At first, I asked Tyler to have the skull sitting on a column, so you could grab and hold it almost like an Oscar. But again, we didn’t want it to seem like it was an award and take anything away from our actual contest winners. Also, it looked like a PEZ dispenser. So I suggested we add the crossbones and that worked out quite well. Once it was designed, we realized it would be the perfect paperweight. Honestly, I never would have done this if it wasn’t for Tyler Green. He did such an amazing job on the trophy, and he was eager to do more stuff for Killer Shorts!”
